The Brush Hurdle
I skidded to a dead stop right in front of the kitchen doorway, where a thick wooden-handled sweeping broom lay propped across the sill like a low barrier hurdle! Without a single second of hesitation, I launched myself into a high, tumbling bound straight over the smooth stick. My trailing red sneaker clipped the straw bristles with a crisp scuff, knocking the broom flat against the tiles with a resounding clack. I hit the linoleum floor in a rolling slide, bounced right back onto my heels, and flashed an enormous toothy grin back at my fallen obstacle!
