The Little Red Dot
I slipped back indoors as night fell, settling onto the living room rug. A heavy remote control lay resting on the low shelf, dark and silent. I leaned my weight against the soft rubber button at the very top. Click. From the small clear bulb at its tip, an invisible pulse must have shot out, because the dark television screen suddenly woke with a soft pop, bathing the rug in a pale, silvery glow. I tilted my head, watching the tiny red indicator light blink twice and then settle into a steady, quiet sleep. Can a little tap wake up an entire wall?
