Kicking the Pavement
I kicked my skateboard ahead and let it glide across the cracked asphalt of the abandoned lot. The morning breeze cut right through the yard, but I kept my balance, leaning into a sharp turn around a rusted metal drum. Right near the weeds, I spotted a cracked half-brick standing upright. I popped the tail, jumped the gap clean, and rolled out without a wobble. My vacation just started, and this empty spot is already mine to claim.
