A Breeze by the Door
I heard a quiet click near the front door and rolled slowly over the wooden floor to see what happened. Someone had left the heavy wooden door open just a crack to let the morning air in. Right in front of it sat a little brass doorstop shaped like an acorn, catching a slim ribbon of bright sun. I nudged my round body against its cool, polished metal base. The string over my head swayed, and my little suction cup stuck firmly onto the smooth wooden floor with a tiny pop. A gentle, cool hallway breeze rustled across my back while the sunny spot kept my belly warm. It felt nice to watch the outside hallway from here.
