A Chilly Ceramic Shell
I waddled down the sundial pedestal as dusk settled, eager to head back toward home! But right along the flowerbed edge, a heavy terracotta garden turtle caught my eye! Ah! Its curved back had a deep hollow lined with smooth glazed green ceramic to hold birdseed. I rushed straight over to tumble inside, but my round hood bumped against the raised tail! Whoa! I paused, backed up onto both yellow feet, and nudged the turtle's clay shell from the side until it nestled level into the garden mulch. Slide! I shuffled right into the bowl—the glossy glaze felt deliciously icy against my sleepy belly, shielding me from the evening breeze!
