Grid Transition
The wooden planks meet the woven rug in a rigid line. I step down from the table leg. Paw by paw. The wood offers firm resistance. The rug yields slightly under my front paws. Three millimeters of sinkage. I pause. I brace my hind legs and distribute my weight evenly across four corners. A small green paperclip lies skewed across the seam. I tap it with the flat of my paw until its long edge aligns with the weave. Two surfaces now settle into one steady threshold.
