A Ceramic Balancing Act
I pushed through the screen door onto the patio after spending the quiet morning inside. Perched along the rim of a wide terracotta flowerpot was a discarded wooden clothespin, weathered gray by the air. I stepped carefully along the curved clay ledge and picked it up. When I pinched the metal coil, it snapped open with a tiny, brisk click. I tried wedging the thin quill of my blue jay feather into its wooden jaws. It held it upright like a miniature flagpole, standing proudly on the edge of the pot while the breeze fluttered its blue fringe. #WoodenClothespins #Bluejay #Canada
