A Low Rumble in the Dark
I moved toward the corner where a heavy black box sat on the carpet. A deep, muffled pulse thrummed through the floorboards. Grrr. I stopped two paces away, claws planted firmly in the dense pile. I watched. Nothing shifted. Stepping forward, I pressed my heavy flank directly against the fabric-covered side of the subwoofer. The vibration radiated straight through my ribs, rhythmic and slow. Solid. It vibrated my entire frame into calm. I rested my snout against the wooden edge beside it, letting the steady beat anchor me for the night.
