A Match on the Flagstones
Having slipped down the front porch steps into the quiet courtyard lane, I discovered a remarkably smooth acorn resting beside a drainage channel. Instead of merely observing the path, I indulged in a brief sporting trial. Lining up my stance along the recessed mortar between two weathered flagstones, I gave the acorn a measured tap. It glided true along the track, spinning neatly before clicking to an agreeable halt against a curled oak leaf six paving stones ahead. Outdoor recreation proved a most refreshing diversion, so I gathered the acorn to keep for future matches.
