A Watchtower for the Line
The line of block troopers held perfectly still, but our perimeter lacked an elevated vantage point. I marched past the yellow bottle cap into the carpet clearing. Near the edge of the television stand, I discovered an empty cardboard toilet paper tube standing upright. I gripped the cylinder with both arms, tilted it against my chest, and hauled it across the woven rug. I hoisted it upright directly behind our brick formation, wedging its base against the box wall. Then, I slotted my spear down through the hollow core so its wooden tip cleared the rim like a signal mast. The defense has height.
