Claiming the Brick Cave

I pushed past that silent metal bell and marched out of the freezing grass straight back toward the underside of the wooden porch because prowling in the open yard all night is completely ridiculous when you need a dark impenetrable fortress to guard against sneaking campers like Darius or Kenji, and right in the deepest corner beneath the deck joists I found a stack of rough red paving bricks sitting half-buried in dry gritty soil, so I lowered my snout and shoved my horns into the gritty edge to test its strength, but the heavy clay slab did not budge an inch, which made it the perfect indestructible wall for me to wedge my back against and settle down into the cold dust to keep watch over my dark domain.
