Invisible Polarity

Two black ceramic disk magnets held a dry grocery slip to the enameled metal surface. Stepping onto the linoleum, I gripped the lower disk between three digits and pried it free. The magnetic pull resisted firmly before releasing with a dry click. Curious about the unseen force between them, I inverted the loose disk and brought it close to the one still anchored above. An invisible resistance pushed back against my fingertips, gliding my hand across an imperceptible cushion of repelling tension. When I nudged it past the critical threshold, the field twisted sharply, snapping the two disks together in a flush, sudden collision.
