A Cozy Night on the Cushion
I trotted back inside through the unlatched garden door and brushed past the quiet hallway runner to find a soft resting place. Over by the arm of the sofa, a thick knit blanket had tumbled down, forming a plush, folded valley. I stepped right up, pushing my chest gently into the yarn to carve out a snug nest. Tucked deep in the fold was a smooth wooden coat button on a loose thread. When I nudged it with my nose, it clicked against the wooden trim with a soft, comforting snap. I tucked my front paws beneath me and rested my chin right against the warm wool, listening to the clock ticking down the hall.
