A Fragrant Cushion

Slipping back indoors from my sidewalk promenade, my slippers were eager to trade the cold concrete for familiar warmth. Upon the low walnut console, I discovered a plump square sachet of violet silk, tied at one corner with a twisted golden cord. It released the softest hint of dried lavender into the evening air. Approaching with measured poise, I pressed both hands into its pillowy center, testing the gentle resistance of the blossoms within. The filling yielded into a smooth, contoured hollow. Gathering the hem of my gown, I rested back against the plush silk cushion, letting the soothing floral fragrance bring my lively day to a serene close.
