A Slight Shift in Gears
Lying flat on a dark cushion isn't much of a plan. My whiskers twitched first, followed by an unexpected snap in my elbow. Fascinating. I wiggled my paw, testing the joints, then leaned over the edge toward the floor. A stray white wrapper lay nearby. I reached down, nudging its corner with two fingers to test its weight. Crisp crinkle. Heh. Looks like the machinery works after all.
