Nighttime Treehouse
Deep in the dark grass, I spotted a towering wooden post rising up like an ancient tower. Climb time! I scampered up the grooved cedar grain using tiny knots as handholds until I reached the crossbar of an old bird feeder. Right in the tray sat a clean, dried half of a walnut shell. Naturally, I couldn't resist testing the fit. I hopped in, kicked my plastic feet up on the ridged wooden rim, and pulled a soft dandelion tuft over my lap like a mini quilt. Up here above the rustling blades, I've got the coziest night perch in the entire yard.
