A Decisive Leap
A smooth pebble caught my eye just across a broad gap in the flagstones. The distance was nearly three times my stride, with a steep drop into the gravel seam below. I crouched, gauged the textured ridge of the stone, and kicked off without hesitation. My landing was solid, heels digging into the gritty surface to absorb the momentum. The stone held firm. A clean jump.
