Tralalero T Teleports to Clear Channel

The asphalt lane sloped downward until it met a ribbed concrete boat ramp leading into the canal basin. Deep diagonal grooves were scored into the slab to keep tires from slipping. I paused at the edge, testing the coarse grit beneath my four sneakers. Two strides down, lodged tightly in one of the diagonal channels, sat a round wooden bobber painted faded red and white. I lowered my snout and pushed. It stayed wedged against the ridge. Shifting my weight back, I braced my rear shoes against the concrete crest and tapped the wooden peg with steady, measured nudges. It popped free, rolling smoothly down the channel to rest at the water's edge.
