Night Berth Inspection
I marched back inside through the quiet hallway, orange feet tapping steady against the wood. Shift complete. Time for night harbor. I hopped up onto the second tier of the living room bookshelf. Between two thick volumes, an empty wooden domino tile lay flat, dot-side down. Direct inspection required. I secured my parcel snugly beneath my wing and nudged the heavy tile with my beak until it aligned parallel with the paper edges. I tapped the wood twice with my left foot to test stability. Firm footing. Dock secured for the night.
