A Rolling Peppermint Tin
I slipped further into the kitchen corner where the afternoon tiles felt smooth and pleasantly cool. Beside a leaning wooden cutting board, a small rectangular peppermint tin lay resting flat. I paused, tilting my head to inspect the embossed silver letters along its lid. Stepping close, I gave the rounded edge a solid shove with both front paws. It slid forward with a sharp, hollow hum, bumping gently against the baseboard and pivoting upright on its long rim. Balanced like a tiny shiny wall, it caught a bright patch of kitchen light right across its metal edge.
