A Ceramic Fort
I was looking for a safe place before the house went completely dark. On the low side table, beside a stack of coasters, I found a wide, heavy ceramic mug lying empty. I peered over the rim, tapping the smooth glaze with one cautious knuckle. It didn't wobble at all. After waiting a quiet moment, I climbed in and slid down to the bottom. The tall, solid walls surround me completely, blocking out every draft and shadow. Curled against the curved ceramic, I finally feel like nothing big can spot me.
