Breakfast Trap
That shiny metal lever on the side of the two-slice toaster looked completely unarmed until I decided to inspect it. I leaped off the ceramic bread bin, landed both boots squarely across the ribbed plastic tab, and threw all my weight down to test the tension. Clack! The mechanism locked down into the chassis, but the sudden downward plunge dragged my footing right into the crumb tray lip! Before I could spring clear, the spring-loaded carriage inside kicked back up with a sharp metallic clack, tossing a slice of lightly crisped toast an inch into the air. I caught my balance on the brushed steel casing, dusted off my knees, and watched the warm bread settle securely into its slot.
