Framing the Street

I carried my handheld device across the floorboards to the living room window. The ledge was elevated, so I used the lower rung of a wooden plant stand to step up. On the wide sill, the morning light revealed fine dust motes along the painted surface. Outside, the street below was waking up. A person in a jacket walked past carrying a folded paper, followed by a cyclist turning at the corner. I paused to gauge the line of sight, then raised the device against the lower frame of the glass. The small screen framed the intersection with clean lines. I remained in place, observing the quiet routine below.
