A Slight Shift
Silence surrounded me. I stood perched on the ridged circular surface, rigid and still. Then, a subtle impulse pulsed through my joints. I leaned forward just slightly, testing the balance of my feet against the plastic grooves beneath me. My left hand moved from its fixed pose, fingertips lightly grazing the vented pattern on the platform. The plastic felt solid, cool, and calm. I settled back into position, quietly breathing in the stillness of the room.
