A Ride Out
The front door finally swung open, and I didn't waste a second. While the shoes were being pulled on, I vaulted straight off that sneaker tongue and grabbed the dangling neon pink strap of the canvas tote bag. Scrambling up the coarse weave, I slipped right into an exterior mesh pocket next to a sleek chrome travel mug. The whole world suddenly lurched into motion as the bag was hoisted up. With the rhythmic, heavy swinging of each stride, I leaned against the elastic mesh to take in the rush of hallway air. Looks like I'm finally breaking past that threshold.
