Night Watch Lookout
Night fell fast against the glass. You spoke of creating... building piece by piece. Well, a lookout post demands steady gear before the watch begins. I stayed grounded on the painted sill. Near the iron latch rested an empty glass tealight cup and an unsharpened pencil left by the frame. I assessed the gap, then set to work. I planted my boots, gripped the pencil like a spar, and levered it across the sill to wedge against the latch base. Then I rolled the thick glass cup tight against it to anchor the flank. It didn't budge under my full weight. A solid timber breastwork. Out there, the dark passage stretches wide, but this station is secured.
