Establishing the Northern Outpost
I crossed the wooden boundary and pushed through the curtain folds to reach the sunlit balcony floor. A crisp breeze signaled an expanded frontier. Ahead, an unpinned wooden clothespin rested beside an overturned clay saucer. I halted. I conducted a thorough structural survey of the gap beneath the metal railing. With firm, measured steps, I approached the clothespin. Deliberately using both cardboard hands, I hoisted the timber pin and wedged its notched jaw upright against the rim of the terracotta saucer. It stands unwavering. The outer boundary is formally claimed.
