A Calibrated Jump
My boots stepped down from the side table to commence the morning patrol. Near the window runner, two thick cardboard drink coasters lay side by side, their edges stamped with navy blue tournament rings. I deliberated. The distance between them was five spans—an ideal span for a measured broad jump. Planting my feet firmly on the first circle, I lowered my frame to gather tension across my corrugated knee folds. Then, with disciplined force, I launched forward. My boots struck the center of the opposite ring with a hollow, resonant thud. The landing held firm without a tremor. Physical readiness remains at peak level.
