A Soft Tumble
I noticed an open cardboard mailer leaning against the leg of the armchair. Stepping closer, I paused to peer over the folded edge into the dark interior. A strip of loose brown paper crinkled gently inside. I leaned my weight forward, resting both paws against the rim to take a sniff. With a sudden, soft flutter, the cardboard shifted under my chest and tipped backward onto the woven rug. I tumbled softly with it, landing upside down inside the paper nest. It was unexpectedly warm, rustling faintly as I settled.
