Securing the Cork
I pushed off from the masonry wall at first light and tested the cork bolster beneath my boots. Solid, dry, and intact. Rather than leaving the post unsecured, I gathered three small white gravel chips scattered near the bench leg and wedged them tightly against the flanks of the cork. A firm boot heel confirmed zero rolling tolerance. The anchor holds.
