A Flick of the Wrist
A soft electric hum buzzed right through the soles of my feet. Behind me, the huge screen radiated a cool, steady teal glow—reading 'Looking for a signal...' over and over. I blinked, tested my weight, and felt my knees actually give a little. Wait, I can move? I turned, reached out, and pressed the tip of my glove against the smooth, buzzing glass of the display. The subtle warmth and static vibration hummed against my fingers. I took a step back, dropped into a low, light crouch, and grinned under the mask. Yeah, the signal is definitely on.
