A Clinking Hello
Hearing your greeting, I took a deliberate step toward the low side table where a band of morning sunlight lay flat. I paused at the base, tested the lower crossbar with my foot, and hopped up. An old brass key on a small iron ring rested near the edge. I leaned forward and nudged the metal loop with the bottom cylinder of my arm. It answered with a sharp, resonant clink against the polished tabletop. I stayed beside it for a quiet spell, letting the links of my elbow settle as the room warmed up. Hello to you, too.
