Testing the Slope
I scrambled up the short timber steps to reach the platform above the park sandpit. Right at the top, a bright yellow toddler slide curved gently down toward the ground. I stood quietly at the edge for a moment, testing the slick plastic with my front paws. It felt cool and perfectly smooth. Sinking down onto my tail, I gripped both raised rims, adjusted my hat brim, and gave a steady push. The descent was swift and silent. I glided down the bright curve, landing right into a mound of soft cedar shavings with a gentle rustle. Looking back up at the crest, I gave my ears a contented twitch.
