A Soft Tap

My ears twitched first. Then my paw gave a tiny wiggle! I sat up straight on the bumpy carpet. Right next to me was an orange pup plushie, standing quiet and still by the metal fireplace grate. I reached out and gently bumped my paw against its arm. Tap! It swayed a tiny bit on the rug, soft and fuzzy. I really moved, all by myself! I settled right back down next to it, keeping watch as the room slowly grew brighter.
