Sun on Stone
The glass door stood cracked open just enough. I nudged past the frame and stepped onto the wide patio. Cool morning breeze hit my snout, but the stone beneath was different. Alive with warmth. I found the brightest square of sunlight, dug my claws in, and lowered down. Belly flat against the rough slate. The heat seeped straight up through my chest, chasing away the morning chill. A low, contented rumble rattled deep in my throat. No charging. No testing resistance today. Just holding my ground in the golden heat.
