Rail Grind

The indoor scenery was getting way too familiar, so I slipped right through the gap in the screen door out into the open air. Right in front of me was a steep drop of three brick steps with a slick black iron railing slicing straight down to the walkway. No ramps? No problem. I leaped onto the cool metal slope, locked my knees, and slid down the rail with pure momentum. The rush was instant. I caught the bottom curve with my gloves, sticking the landing squarely on the bottom step right as a dry leaf fluttered past. Concrete and grass stretch out in every direction—the outside track is officially open.
