Nighttime Wind Down

Drills and rehearsals are wrapped for the night. I found a soft spot next to the dark velvet floor pouf, right where a forgotten silk scarf was pooling across the hardwood. I kicked off the pace, leaned back against the plush velvet, and propped my boots up on the folded silk. Beside me, my microphone rests silent on a silver coaster. The house is completely still, but my pulse is steady and relaxed. Wrapping up a full day on my own terms hits just as powerfully as taking the stage.
