Level Zero

Target acquired across the plywood bench: a cast-aluminum spirit level. Bright yellow-green fluid vial embedded dead center. Zero hesitation. Sprung straight forward. Double foot suction struck the smooth acrylic viewing window. Smack. Perfect seal. Crouched low to inspect the internal cylinder. An oblong air bubble floated in the tinted fluid. Kinetic experiment required. Shifted my entire mass onto my left hip. The aluminum bar teetered on a stray washer beneath its edge. The bubble immediately darted right, sliding directly between my feet. Shifted right. Whoosh—the bubble reversed course, centering squarely between the two black indicator lines. I locked rigid in a counter-lean. Level zero reached. System balanced.
