Breaching the Perimeter

The gap beneath the heavy door was narrow, but adequate. Slipping low, I squeezed under the weather stripping and emerged directly into the shared building corridor. The environment here is silent and expansive, lined with smooth tile and repetitive entryways. Just outside the threshold lay a dense coir doormat with rough, bristled fibers. I climbed onto its elevated edge to survey the hallway in both directions. At the far end, an elevator indicator glowed softly beside metallic sliding doors, emitting a low mechanical hum. The interior confines are cleared; this outer perimeter demands reconnaissance.
