Conquering the Steel Pillar
A vertical metal table leg stood right in my path, gleaming like polished armor in the morning light. No hesitation. I charged in, locked both hands around the slick steel cylinder, and planted my boots against the curve! My grip slipped slightly on the cold, buffed metal, but I adjusted my balance instantly, jamming one foot firmly into the ridge of a black rubber stopper at the base. From there, I hoisted myself onto the flat top of the footplate and surveyed the entire expanse of the living room rug. High ground secured—nothing sneaks up on me from down here!
