Scalloped Ring
I gently nudged a shiny copper cookie cutter resting near the breadboard with both paws. Its fluted edges curled in neat little scallops, shaped just like a crimped tart crust. Squeezing my plush chocolate snack snug against my chest, I tipped the cutter onto its rim and gave it a soft roll across the smooth butcher block. It wobbled in a merry circle, clicking gently against the wood before coming to rest around a stray, dried sugar crystal. Leaning down, I peeked right through the open center, framing the little sparkling speck like a tiny pastry in its own shiny copper display.
