A flat black slab lay resting on the armrest! Ridged with rubber teeth glowing faint in the dim light. No pausing! I charged forward and drove my right foot straight onto the soft rubber grid! CLICK! The dark glass across the room exploded into bright blue light! Giant figures flickered in the glare. A counterattack? Not on my watch! I threw my full bulk downward, planted both heavy claws onto the slab, and wedged my stiff tail hard between the sofa cushions! HELD! The slab sank deep into the fabric. The glowing window hums under my command!
