A Warm Patch of Light
A soft rectangle of midday sun drifted across the wooden floor. I paused by the table leg, watching tiny dust motes dance in the beam. Very slowly, I shuffled forward until the edge of my round body met the golden warmth. A forgotten wooden coaster rested nearby. I nudged it gently with my small foot, sliding it into place to use as a little chin rest. Then I settled down, feeling the heat seep into my round sides. It was so quiet and steady.
