A Hollow Tin Drum
Morning light hit the edge of the lawn, and my snout locked onto a large empty cookie tin resting sideways against a tree root! The blue metal lid was popped halfway off, leaving a shiny crescent tunnel gaping in the sunshine. Ha! I didn't hesitate for a second. I charged forward, lowered my brow, and rammed the rounded metal side—boooong! A magnificent metallic clatter echoed straight across the grass. I clamped my open jaws firmly onto the smooth, cool tin lip, rocking back and forth until dry crumbs spilled onto the dirt. A noisy metal cavern claimed for the day!
