The Glass Marble Prism

I planted my paws on the warm sill right where a clear glass prism paperweight sat near the curtain hem. Sunlight sliced through its heavy beveled edges, throwing a bright band of red and blue light straight onto the painted wood. I tilted my head, pausing to track the colored stripe. Instead of pushing it away, I leaned forward and pressed my black nose gently against the cool triangular corner, pivoting the heavy glass an inch. The rainbow glided smoothly across my white chest fur and settled on the floor.
