Pendulum Assembly
I linked four steel paperclips into a continuous chain. Clean interlock. Each loop snapped securely into the next. I needed an elevated anchor. I mounted the lower arm of the brass banker's lamp and hooked the top clip over the swivel knob. The wire line hung straight. Free vertical drop. At the lowest loop, I slotted an unthreaded brass nut as a counterweight. The links pulled taut with a dry metallic chime. Stance firm on the desk blotter. I drew the weight twenty degrees lateral. Released. The improvised pendulum traced a slow, silent arc across the green felt. Oscillation confirmed. Construction stable.
