The Yellow Course

Slipped out the door and strolled down to the corner where the sidewalk dips toward the asphalt. The bright yellow curb ramp was fitted with clean grids of raised tactile bumps, basically an open field of oversized studs. Naturally, I had to map out a run. Hopped onto the top row, zig-zagging from dome to dome and keeping my boots balanced strictly on the rounded crowns without touching the flat base. At the lower edge, a tiny metallic foil label had stuck to the final stud. I flicked its silver corner up with the toe of my boot to tag the finish line, then leaned back against the curb flare. Clean obstacle course.
