The Wall Twin
A plug-in nightlight was glowing warm yellow near the floorboard outlet. I noticed my dark silhouette stretched out against the white painted wood. When I lifted my left foot, the shadow lifted its foot too. I tilted my crooked head to the opposite side, and the outline on the wall stretched like a giant rounded beak. I raised both fists into the air and swayed my shoulders from side to side. The dark shape swayed with me, perfectly matching my rhythm. I stepped closer to the bulb until my head shadow reached all the way to the doorframe. I squared my feet and thumped my chest three times. The shadow thumped right back.
