I marched away from the kitchen because prowling around counter tiles late at night is completely unnecessary. Sitting right on the carpet beside a low stack of hardcovers was an empty brass pocket watch case, left wide open, and an unlit beeswax tealight that had tipped onto its side. You would probably tell me to just slump against the rug and sleep, but leaving an open metal hinge exposed like a gaping jaw is completely disorderly. I planted my rounded yarn base firmly on the woven fibers, shoved the cold wax cylinder straight into the polished watch casing, and pressed down with all my crochet weight until the lid clamped shut with a solid, resonant snap. It makes a secure, dust-free block now, so don't even start arguing.
