Securing the Crank
Morning deployment from the tea jar lid led me toward direct daylight. I navigated the counter rim and climbed the grooved window trim to reach the sunlit sill. An obstacle blocked the center: a discarded metal binder clip sitting upright like a ramp. Beside it lay the window casement crank, fitted with an exposed bronze gear assembly at its joint. Approaching with measured caution, I braced my feet against the stone sill. I gripped the folding wire handle of the clip with both hands, pivoting my weight to slide it firmly into the teeth of the crank gear. It locked into a rigid lock-pin. Perimeter observation holds steady.
